1. GMUN

Gaurs Model United Nations (MUN) is an initiative by the school to enable the students to learn to research, analyse complex global issues, and formulate persuasive arguments. It will have a profound impact on children as it poses to enhance their critical thinking and public speaking skills. It aims to provide a platform for children to engage in diplomatic discussions and negotiate solutions to real-world problems which in turn will foster their understanding of global affairs, cultural diversity, and the importance of international cooperation.

Participation in MUN cultivates leadership qualities in children as they take on roles of delegates, chairpersons, or organizers. They learn to collaborate with peers, build consensus, and effectively communicate their ideas in a diplomatic manner. They learn to appreciate diverse viewpoints and find common ground through dialogue and compromise. Lastly, MUN club offers children an opportunity to develop their confidence and self- assurance. By engaging in public speaking, debating, and representing their assigned country, they become more comfortable expressing their ideas in front of an audience, honing their communication skills for future success.

2. MENTAL HEALTH AMBASSADORS

Students are more likely to approach their peers for support and advice. By training students as Mental Health Ambassadors, GIS, Greater Noida intends to create a network of peer support where students feel comfortable reaching out to their fellow students. This can help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage open discussions about mental well-being. The students will play a crucial role in raising awareness about mental health issues among students thereby contributing to a more informed and empathetic school community where students feel safe seeking help without fear of judgment or discrimination.

By actively engaging in mental health advocacy, students develop a sense of purpose, empathy, and self-confidence, which can contribute to their own mental well-being. It also provides students with an opportunity to develop leadership skills, empathy, and emotional intelligence. They learn to listen, support, and guide their peers effectively. This experience can empower students to become advocates not just for mental health but for other important issues in their communities as well.

3. HINDI / SANSKRIT CLASS MAGAZINE

Hindi is not only a language but also a crucial part of the Indian cultural identity. By introducing Hindi/Sanskrit Class Magazine, the school endeavours to demonstrate respect for Indian traditions and values. It will foster a stronger bond with the readers, as they feel a connection to the content and the organization behind it. This will result in increased readership and more meaningful interactions with the audience. Information Access:

A Hindi Magazine will contribute to the preservation and growth of the language. It helps keep the language alive, nurtures its evolution, and ensures its relevance in the modern digital landscape.

4. NUKKAD NATAK

Through Street plays the school endeavours to address important social issues, historical events, cultural traditions, or environmental concerns. Children will learn about these topics in an engaging and interactive way, making the learning experience more enjoyable and memorable. Street plays will provide children with an immersive and experiential form of learning. They witness the live performances, interact with actors, and observe the reactions of the audience. This hands-on experience can enhance their understanding and empathy towards various subjects.

Children will get exposed to creative expressions and develop an appreciation for different art forms. They may also get inspired to explore their own artistic talents and pursue interests in theatre or related fields. Participating in street plays will boost children's self-confidence and help them overcome stage fright. By watching and discussing these performances, children will develop a better understanding of social realities, cultivate empathy towards others, and become socially responsible individuals.

5. GREEN BRIGADE

The school plans to have a Green Brigade through a collaboration with the Blue Planet. The advocates of Green Brigade will educate students about environmental issues, helping them develop a deeper understanding of the challenges our planet faces. Through workshops, presentations, and discussions, students will learn about climate change, pollution, conservation, and sustainable practices. This knowledge will empower them to make informed decisions and take action to protect the environment.

By participating in the Green Brigade, students will develop a range of valuable skills. They will enhance their leadership abilities by organizing and leading environmental initiatives. Communication skills, collaborative teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills will also be cultivated through planning and executing Green Brigade activities. It will provide opportunities for hands-on experience in environmental conservation. Students can engage in tree-planting activities, clean-up drives, and recycling initiatives, gaining practical knowledge about environmental stewardship. Such experiences foster a sense of responsibility, empathy, and connection to the natural world.

6. CLASS COFFEE

Class Coffee is a novel idea which will provide an opportunity for parents and school staff to interact in a relaxed setting. It will help foster positive relationships between parents and teachers, administrators, and other school personnel. Building strong relationships can enhance communication and collaboration, leading to better support for students. It will encourage parents to actively participate in their child's education. When parents feel comfortable and welcomed, they are more likely to get involved in school activities, volunteer, and attend future formal meetings or events. Increased parent engagement positively impacts students' academic progress and overall well-being.

Class Coffee will also create a space for open dialogue and sharing of perspectives. School staff can gather valuable insights from parents regarding their experiences, concerns, and suggestions. This feedback can help schools identify areas for improvement, make informed decisions, and tailor their educational practices to better meet the needs of students and families. By organizing such informal meetings, school will create a welcoming and inclusive environment. 7. CAREER FAIR

Career Fair at GIS provides an opportunity for students to explore various career paths and industries. It often features a wide range of companies and organizations from different sectors, allowing students to learn about different job roles, industries, and the skills required. This exposure will help students gain a better understanding of their own interests, strengths, and aspirations, and make more informed decisions about their career paths.

It will provide students with first-hand information about industry trends, market demands, and required skill sets. Company representatives often share insights and advice about career development, industry expectations, and the skills that are in high demand. This knowledge can guide students in making informed decisions about their academic pursuits, skill development, and career planning.

8. ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION

The Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony being organised for the first time this year will serve as a platform to acknowledge and appreciate the achievements and efforts of students in academics. Winning a prize provides students with a sense of accomplishment and recognition for their hard work, motivating them to continue excelling in their respective areas. The prospect of receiving a prize encourages students to set goals and work towards achieving them. The event emphasizes the importance of setting targets and striving for excellence, promoting a culture of healthy competition and personal growth among students.

Receiving a prize on a public platform helps boost a student's self-confidence and self- esteem. It validates their skills, talents, and efforts, reinforcing a positive self-perception. This boost in confidence can have a ripple effect, leading to improved performance, increased involvement in activities, and a willingness to take on new challenges. Witnessing their peers being rewarded for their achievements will serve as an inspiration for other students. It creates a positive competitive environment where students strive to emulate the success of their peers or role models. 9. CBSE CLUSTERS

Platform for Healthy Competition: The school aims to ensure the participation of students in CBSE Cluster Sports Meet this year as it will provide a platform for students to engage in healthy competition with their peers from different schools. It encourages them to push their limits, improve their skills, and strive for excellence in sports. Participation in the sports meet encourages them to engage in regular physical activity, develop sportsmanship, and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

CBSE Cluster Sports Meet will provide an opportunity for students to develop and showcase their sports skills. They will learn new techniques, improve their abilities, and gain valuable experience through participation in competitive sports. It will further foster teamwork and collaboration among students. They will learn to work together as a team, coordinate strategies, and support each other to achieve common goals. This develops important life skills that go beyond sports.

It will also provide an opportunity for talented students to gain exposure and recognition for their sporting achievements. It allows them to showcase their skills in front of a larger audience, including coaches, scouts, and sports enthusiasts. Exceptional performance in the sports meet can open doors to various career opportunities in sports. It can lead to scholarships, sports sponsorships, and even professional sports careers for talented athletes.

10. KALAKRITI

Music, dance, and art Inter School Competitions will provide a platform for students to showcase their creativity and express themselves through various art forms. It will encourage them to think outside the box, explore their artistic abilities, and develop their unique artistic styles. Performing in front of an audience and receiving recognition for their talent can significantly boost students' confidence and self-esteem. Standing on a stage or displaying their artwork allows them to overcome stage fright, build self-assurance, and develop public speaking or presentation skills.

Participating in competitions pushes students to improve their skills in music, dance, and art. They strive to hone their techniques, practice diligently, and learn from each performance or exhibition. This continuous development helps them grow as artists and performers. They learn to synchronize their movements, communicate effectively, and trust their teammates. Through music, dance, and art, participants can learn about various artistic traditions, styles, and perspectives. 11. BAGLESS DAYS

GIS observed its first Bagless Day on Monday, 3 rd July 2023 to encourage students to participate in various activities that promote active learning, such as group discussions, art, dance, music, outdoor games, or workshops. These activities enhanced engagement, creativity, and critical thinking skills among students. The workshops on Cyber Bullying and Mental Health were welcomed by students and parents alike.

It created an environment where students could freely communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with their peers, contributing to a more inclusive and connected school community. Students engaged in sports, outdoor games, or physical education sessions, promoting a healthier and more active lifestyle.

12. DEBATING & QUIZ CLUB

The school also intends to start a Debating and Quiz club to encourage students to think critically and analytically. They develop the ability to examine and evaluate information, arguments, and evidence. It also helps them develop research skills, learn how to find reliable sources, and expand their knowledge base. It also encourages them to stay updated on current events and explore new areas of interest. This skill is valuable for academic success and helps students become more discerning and logical thinkers.

Debating clubs provide opportunities for students to improve their oral communication skills. They learn how to articulate their thoughts clearly, present persuasive arguments, and respond effectively to counterarguments. Quiz clubs enhance verbal communication skills as students engage in discussions and exchange knowledge with teammates.

Debating and quiz clubs foster teamwork and collaboration among students. They work together to prepare for competitions, share knowledge, and support each other. Through collaborative efforts, students learn the importance of teamwork, cooperation, and respectful communication. Debating and quiz clubs contribute to students' overall personal growth and development. 13. READING BUDDIES PROGRAMME (I-V) & BOOK CLUB (VI-VIII)

Reading Buddies Programme and Book Club will also be introduced this year to expand the reading repertoire by exposing students to a wide range of literary genres, authors, and themes. Reading books that you might not have chosen on your own broadens your reading horizons and introduces you to new perspectives and ideas.

The students will engage in discussions about books which stimulates the mind and encourages critical thinking. Analysing the plot, characters, and themes of the books helps develop analytical and interpretive skills, enhancing overall intellectual capacity. Reading and discussing books with diverse characters and themes fosters empathy and a deeper understanding of different cultures, experiences, and perspectives. This increased empathy can extend to real-life situations, helping the students to become more compassionate and open-minded. Therefore, these initiatives will provide a platform for personal growth, self- reflection, and the opportunity to explore and articulate thoughts and opinions.

14. NEWSPAPER IN EDUCATION

Reading Comprehension: Newspapers in Education will continue to be a part of the school this year as well. It provides real-world reading material that can improve students' reading comprehension skills. The varied content in newspapers exposes students to different writing styles, genres, and perspectives, helping them become better readers. Newspapers offer up-to- date information on local, national, and international events. By incorporating newspaper activities, teachers will promote current events discussions in the classroom, fostering students' awareness of the world around them and encouraging critical thinking.

Engaging with newspaper articles allows students to expand their vocabulary, improve their word recognition skills, and enhance their overall language proficiency. Newspaper articles often present different viewpoints and perspectives on issues, encouraging students to think critically and analyse the information presented. Engaging with newspapers helps students develop their ability to evaluate sources, question assumptions, and form well-reasoned opinions. Newspaper activities can inspire and improve students' writing skills. 15. PEER WORKSHOPS

Peer workshops were started till Grade II this year which helped the school to create a platform for participants to share their knowledge and expertise. Each participant brings unique perspectives, experiences, and skills, contributing to a diverse and rich learning environment. It allows individuals to learn from one another, expanding their knowledge base and gaining insights that they may not have encountered otherwise.

One of the significant advantages of peer workshops is the opportunity to receive feedback from fellow participants. Peers can provide valuable insights, suggestions, and constructive criticism based on their own experiences and expertise. This feedback loop helps individuals refine their work, identify blind spots, and gain fresh perspectives, ultimately improving the quality of their output. 16. MICRO TEACHING LESSONS

Microteaching allows teachers to focus on specific skills or aspects of teaching, such as questioning techniques, classroom management, or instructional strategies. By isolating these skills and practicing them in controlled settings, teachers can refine their techniques and become more effective instructors. It provides a structured platform for receiving feedback from peers or mentors. Since the lessons are brief and focused, feedback can be more specific and actionable. Teachers can identify areas of strength and areas that need improvement, helping them grow professionally.

By practicing and receiving feedback in a supportive environment, teachers can build their confidence in their teaching abilities and reflect on their instructional practices. The incremental nature of microteaching allows teachers to gradually refine their skills, which can boost their self-assurance when they move on to teach larger lessons.

17. FLIPPED CLASSROOMS

Flipped classrooms have been introduced by the teachers to prioritize active learning over passive listening. By moving lectures outside of class time, students have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, discussions, problem-solving exercises, and collaborative projects during class. This active engagement promotes deeper understanding, critical thinking, and application of knowledge. It also allows students to learn at their own pace. They can watch or read the lecture materials multiple times, pause, rewind, or fast-forward as needed to accommodate their learning style and comprehension level. This flexibility supports differentiated instruction and personalized learning.

With the lecture component moved outside of class, more time can be dedicated to higher- order thinking skills. In-class activities can focus on analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and application of knowledge, as students have already acquired the foundational information beforehand. This promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.

18. ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

Alumni association will be put into place this year to provide a platform for networking among former students. By connecting with fellow alumni, individuals can expand their professional network, explore career opportunities, and seek advice or mentorship. Mentors can share their knowledge, offer career insights, and provide guidance on personal and professional development. This mentorship fosters a sense of community and helps students navigate their academic and professional journeys. Their success stories and positive testimonials can enhance the school's reputation, attract prospective students, and strengthen relationships with external stakeholders.

19. SPICMACAY

SPIC MACAY will be introduced this year with an aim to expose students to the rich heritage and diversity of Indian classical music, dance forms, and cultural traditions. By organizing performances, workshops, and interactions with renowned artists, SPIC MACAY provides an immersive cultural experience that expands students' understanding and appreciation of Indian arts and traditions. By promoting Indian classical music and cultural forms, SPIC MACAY plays a crucial role in preserving and safeguarding the country's traditional heritage.

Through exposure to these art forms, students develop an understanding of their historical significance, contributing to the preservation and continuation of India's cultural legacy. Integrating SPIC MACAY activities into the school curriculum enhances the holistic development of students. Exposure to classical music and dance fosters aesthetic sensibilities, creativity, emotional expression, and discipline. These art forms also promote cognitive skills, such as concentration, memory, and pattern recognition. SPIC MACAY programs provide a well-rounded education that goes beyond academics.

20. SCHOOL CINEMA

LXL Ideas enables schools to impart Lessons of Life by creating unique, impact-led in- school as well as digital experiences for students, parents and educators. For over two decades, LXL Ideas has transformed education through films, events, research, training and publications.

School Cinema is a first-of-its-kind program in the world that has introduced film pedagogy to schools. Research proves that films as part of a curriculum are effective in retention and learning outcomes. School Cinema is a film-based learning program introduced as part of the school curriculum that supports student learning. Social Emotional Learning, Life Skills, Health and Mental well-being and Academic Achievements are both interwoven and strongly recommended by NEP 2020 and UNICEF'S WHO.

School Cinema uses cinematic storytelling, thought-provoking workbooks, and digital activities to engage and influence students, parents, and educators. School Cinema has a life-skills and social-emotional learning curriculum for students from KG to Grade 10.
