Global Handwashing Day

Celebrating Global Handwashing Day at Gaurs International School: Pre Primary Edition
Global Handwashing Day, a day dedicated to promoting the importance of hand hygiene, was celebrated with great enthusiasm at our school. The day saw active participation from our youngest learners, of Pre Primary classes.
For the Pre Nursery Gaurians , Global Handwashing Day marked their introduction to the significance of proper handwashing. The little ones were engaged in fun and interactive activities that emphasized the need to wash their hands regularly, especially after play and before meals. They learned that clean hands are essential for staying healthy and preventing the spread of diseases.
The Nursery Gaurians took a more hands-on approach, quite literally! They delved into the eight critical steps of effective handwashing. The students not only learned the sequence but also practiced it diligently. Under the guidance of their learning facilitators and school nurse , Ms Lovely Gandhi , they sang songs to ensure they scrubbed their hands thoroughly. This activity helped them internalize the process and made it an enjoyable routine.
In a creative twist, the Prep Gaurians carried out a fascinating experiment related to handwashing. They used black pepper to represent germs on their hands and then attempted to remove them by washing. This experiment allowed the students to witness the tangible effects of handwashing. They sprinkled black pepper on their hands and then washed them with soap and water. The result was a visually striking display of how germs (pepper) are effectively removed when hands are washed correctly.
Global Handwashing Day Celebration served as a reminder to these young learners that clean hands are crucial for their well-being. It also instilled in them a sense of responsibility for maintaining personal hygiene and protecting themselves and others from illnesses.
They also learnt that handwashing is not just a task but a habit that can safeguard their health and well-being. This early exposure to hygiene practices is sure to stay with them throughout their lives, ensuring a healthier and happier future.
