About NCC

National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Services Organization comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth – ‘The Leaders of Tomorrow’ – into disciplined and patriotic citizens. The genesis of the NCC can be traced back to the first world war when Britishers created the University Corps as the second line of defence and to have a large pool of trained youth available for employment into the Armed Forces. After independence, the present day NCC under the Ministry of Defence came into existence on 16 April 1948 through NCC act XXXI, 1948. NCC was formally inaugurated on 15 Jul 1948 as soon as the schools and colleges reopened after summer vacation. The Girls Division of the NCC was started in Jul 1949. In 1950 Air Wing was added on 01 Apr with one Air squadron each at Bombay and Kolkata. The Naval Wing of the NCC was raised in Jul 1952, thus completing the true representation of all services in the Corps. Presently, NCC has approximately 13 Lakhs Cadets under its fold.

AIM of NCC

The ‘Aims’ of the NCC laid out in 1988 have stood the test of time and continue to meet the requirements expected of it in the current socio–economic scenario of the country. The NCC aims at developing character, comradeship, discipline, a secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens. Further, it aims at creating a pool of organized, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life, who will serve the Nation regardless of which career they choose. Needless to say, the NCC also provides an environment conducive to motivating young Indians to join the armed forces.

Benefits of NCC

· NCC teaches both unity and discipline as core values. Every individual has to rely on core values irrespective of the stream or sector he/she choose in life.

· The organization gives an early experience of the way, in which you should act at the time of staying with others in state through camps.

· Since the camps organized under NCC takes individuals out of their comfort zones, they play major role in teaching of self-reliance.

· NCC cadets get first-hand opportunity to be the part of Indian armed forces, Indian Naval Forces and Indian Air Forces depending on your chosen battalion.

CATC-129 NCC Camp, Greater Noida from 15th June to 24th June, 2019

The exuberant NCC cadets of Gaurs International School are being trained to face bristles and the summer heat without compromising on discipline at the camp. Our twenty two strong cadets of 31(UP) GIRLS BATTALION, GREATER NOIDA learnt not only to handle rifles but imbibing essential life skills such as punctuality and team spirit. They have been skilled

(i) Firstly, to expose young cadets to a `regimental way of life’ which is essential to inculcate in them the values of discipline, duty, punctuality, orderliness, smartness, respect for the authorities, correct work ethos, and self- confidence.

(ii) Secondly, to generate interest in cadets by including and laying emphasis on those aspects of Institutional Training which attract young cadets into the NCC and provides them an element of thrill and excitement.

(iii) Thirdly, to inculcate Defence Services work ethos that is characterised by hard work, sincerity of purpose, honesty, ideal of selfless service, dignity of labour, secular outlook, comradeship, spirit of adventure and sportsmanship. Camp training is the practical manifestation of institutional training. The basic aim of Camps is to introduce cadets to a regimented way of life and helps in developing camaraderie, team work, leadership qualities, self-confidence, self-reliance and dignity of labour in the cadets. The cadets are exposed to the excitement of camp life where they apply the theoretical knowledge that they had gained in Institutional Training.

NCC facilitates access to high potential sports like Football, Hockey and Shooting to talented cadets so as to hone their team and sports skills. NCC teams regularly participate and excel in National level events like Subroto Cup Football, Nehru Cup Hockey and National Shooting.

One of the most important soft skill a NCC Cadet acquires over the course of his/ her NCC trainings is Conflict Management. Conflict Management is a complex and prevalent phenomenon that exists in our society. Conflict Management can also be examined in terms of personal and group orientation, such as interpersonal, intergroup and intra group conflict. The focus of this camp was the acquisition of general conflict Management abilities by NCC Cadets. It is a term used to describe the ways in which people interact in terms of affiliation, agreement, or difference of opinion.
